Chikondi Khangamwa is a first year Doctoral Student in the Scripps School of Communication Studies within the Health Communication track. He hails from Lilongwe, Malawi (South East Africa) where he got his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health from the University of Malawi in 2001. He then got a Master’s degree in Communication and Development from Ohio University in 2014. His research interest is to study the supportive role of communication during disasters and outbreaks especially in vulnerable communities.
He has worked extensively in social marketing and behavior change communication for non-profits and UNICEF in his home country of Malawi as well as brief assignments in other countries in eastern and southern Africa. He is married and blessed with two children, a boy and a girl who live with him here in Athens. In his “free” time he loves playing soccer, writing poetry and watching political comedy shows.
