The OUO is a public speaking competition exclusively for students in COMS 1030. Students compete every spring with an original speech that they presented as a part of their public speaking class. They go through a preliminary round of judges, and top speakers advance to the Final Round and awards ceremony. The contest is judged by COMS graduate students and faculty and rewards the best speech. Prizes from community sponsors are awarded. This contest is just one way students can take coursework and share it with a wider audience.
