Call for abstracts: 2017 Organizational Communication Mini Conference, Ohio University
October 13-15, 2017
The purpose of the Organizational Communication Mini Conference is to feature and support graduate students pursuing organizational communication research. The conference provides burgeoning scholars in the field with the opportunity to present their dissertations or other research projects, receive feedback, and socialize with their peers and with established faculty. The informal atmosphere of the OCMC is also well suited for students who wish to present and receive constructive criticism on early dissertation plans.
This year OCMC will be hosted by the School of Communication Studies, the Barbara Geralds Institute for Storytelling and Social Impact, and the Scripps College of Communication at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
We will also have two workshops on Friday October 13th in advance of the evening welcome reception. One workshop will focus on organizing and storytelling and the other will focus on technology and organizing. Established scholars with an interest in contributing to either of these workshops should contact Dr. Brittany Peterson firstname.lastname@example.org
Conference registration is now open.
Advanced graduate students interested in presenting their work should submit their abstract by August 25th, 2017 to email@example.com
Each submission should include a title page and an abstract.
The title page should include author name, institutional affiliation, current year in program, and whether or not you will be actively on the job market in the 17-18 academic year.
The abstract should be approximately 500 words and formatted as a PDF file no larger than 20MB. Please give a sufficiently detailed description of your work and your methods so we can adequately assess its relevance. Each extended abstract will be reviewed by three Program Committee members. Note that abstracts longer than two pages will be automatically rejected.
Priority will be given to graduate students who are currently on the job market.
Students will be notified by email of acceptance or rejection on September 1st. Accepted abstracts will be invited to be considered for a paper or poster presentation.
