Alex Lippert received her B.A. and M.A. in Communication from the University of Cincinnati with a focus on Health Communication examining social support and grief in the context of social media. She specifically looked at the use of the Facebook pages of the deceased and how loved ones chose to interact with those pages during bereavement. She was awarded a Graduate Assistantship and given the opportunity to teach and TA for Rhetorical Theory courses. Alex has also taught introductory Public Speaking courses for 5 years at the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati State, and for 4 years she has been conducting monthly Business Communication workshops for yoga teachers in training at World Peace Yoga and Motion Studio.
Following her M.A. program Alex was a Corps Member from 2013-2015 in Teach For America working as a Middle School English Teacher and then an Intervention Specialist in under-resourced schools situated in low-income neighborhoods. After teaching, she took an opportunity to become a Marketing Specialist for a large freight brokerage company in Cincinnati before coming to Ohio University to pursue her doctorate in Communication Studies.
Outside of academia you can find her paddleboarding on the lake, going to a Reds game, or camping with her family.
