In the School of Communication Studies, students can expect outstanding advising in the following ways:

  1. First year and transfer students will work with a Student Success Advisor, who will meet with them and provide assistance in understanding university registration, general education requirements, and expectations in the major.  In COMS, students work with Paula Linscott, recognized in 2017 as an Ohio University Outstanding Learning Community Instructor.  For more information about working with Ms. Linscott, download her Advising Syllabus or visit the Advising Syllabus page.  You may also email her or call 740-593-0020.
  2. After the first year, students will work with a Faculty Advisor.  All tenure track faculty in the School of Communication Studies advise undergraduate students, providing them with one-on-one assistance in planning their course schedules and preparing for their careers.
  3. Additional help is available for students interested in internships.  For more information, visit our Internship page or contact Dr. Karen Deardorff.
  4. Graduate clearances and other questions about the Scripps College of Communication may be directed to the Harris Student Support Center, which is located in Schoonover Center 123.
